He's Home - Part 1

After 8 months in Iraq, my brother is home. And for a few short days, our family will be together. Please let the time go slowly...

Some of the women in his life - and his welcoming committee - waiting anxiously at the airport. Nate's girlfriend Becky, mom, me, Aunt Beth and sister Kendra.

A hug for his big sister.

First stop - the "traditional" Jim's Pizza (and to see all the Aunts and Uncles).

Hopefully lots more pictures to come... thank you to all our friends and family for your prayers over the last 8 months - and for the prayers you continue to send his way.

Weekend in Indy

It was a year-long in coming, but Tim and I finally got to take a trip down to Indy (more specifically, Broad Ripple) to visit Tim's sister Mandy. It was beautiful down in Indy this past weekend; I really couldn't believe the difference in the color in their trees (unfortunately, it's kind of "blah" up here right now). But we had a great time hanging out at Mandy's place, seeing her massage studio, eating at and visiting little shops in "downtown" BR and just spending time together.

Saturday morning, Tim and Mandy had planned on running the 5K in the Indianapolis Marathon. So we got up early Saturday morning and went to walk-in registration. Unfortunately (or maybe it was more "fortunately" :) we found out that they weren't taking morning registrations. We're not exactly professional "racers", but who knew they "sold out"...

So instead, both Tim and I received a coveted massage at Mandy's studio... Which to me, personally, is a just a tad better than running 3 miles anyway.

In recovery mode...

And then it was off to the 2-hour wait for a table at the Cheesecake Factory. How I wish they had one other than just Indy and Chicago - but it's always well worth it. And yes, we're wearing jackets because believe it or not, they were still sitting people outside in the middle of October.

07 Anderson Homecoming

It's been forever since we've posted - and no, no baby news Katy :) We've just been going here and there most of the Fall, which is why I'm still wondering where September went. We've spent a little time in Ohio with my family, time at baby showers and birthday parties... working outside and watching sports.

And then finally, this last weekend, I got to see the infamous Anderson University when Tim and all his college buddies went down for Homecoming. I'd heard a lot about Anderson - baseball memories and roomate adventures - but had never seen campus. I must admit, it was really beautiful and I was impressed to say the least. It was also really kind of neat to see a glimpse of Tim's college life since we are one of the only couples not to have gone there together.

Tim and Rob woke up some poor, exhausted college kid so they could have a picture taken in their old dorm room...

And finally, most important stop of the day - the infamous "909 Fremont" - where the guys lived their senior year. Oh the stories...
