Weekend in Amish Country

This past Christmas, Tim's parents gave the family the gift of "time together". They had reserved rooms for us at the Farmstead Inn in Shipshewana (aka Amish Country, IN). So this past weekend, the whole Bontrager gang swam, played games, shopped, ate, visited an antique car museum and ate (yes, I meant to put that twice). It was so fun to spend time together not far from home...

Sean, Ethan and Tim taking a little down-time to play their PSPs.

And while the girls spent 2 hours shopping, the guys visited an anitque Hudson car museum.

The girls posing in a little Amish buggy.

Eating yummy home-style food at the Bluegate Restaurant in downtown Shipshe.

The entire Bontrager family.
Thanks for a wonderful Christmas present and the memories that will last forever!

More Vacation Pics...

So near the first of January, Tim says to me, "Can you try to take off the second week in February"? That's pretty much all I knew about our "surprise" vacation he had planned and booked - all on his own :) All I knew is that we were going someplace warm, and that was good enough for me! As you can see from my previous post, we ended up down in beautiful, sunny and warm Naples, FL.

We ate every night at restaurants on downtown's 5th Avenue.

Except for Valentine's Night when we ate at Naples' infamous (so I hear) "Tommy Bahama's".

One afternoon was spent on Sanibel Island - for shell hunting, of course. I love shells, as long as they stay in Florida. I learned a long time ago that it's not worth bringing them home because they just end up in the junk drawer anyway :)

And of course our trip was complete with a walk out to the Naples Pier and watching a sunset.

Although the pictures might be deceiving, we did wear swim suites most of the week and laid-out on the beach every afternoon. In fact, we got so scorched Thursday of that week that we spent Friday afternoon out of the sun and in a Bass Pro Shop (just for you honey).

Happy Valentine's Day...
